Take a step back in time, and climb on a horse for a true western hunt. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for a world class wilderness elk hunt in the lower 48. Explore more and explore further on horseback while in pursuit of bull elk. Hunters will spend a day on the trail and arrive at a well appointed wall tent camp. This camp will have a full time cook and a guide will be waiting to help you locate your trophy bull elk. Being able to hike is important, however your horse will do the majority of the work. Montana has the big western experience with GREAT elk hunting without the GREAT BIG price. This is a 7 day fully guided hunt.

      Deposits are not refundable. When you make a deposit or payment that money is used to reserve your adventure dates and we cannot sell them to anyone else. If for some reason you have to cancel, you will lose your deposit and any payments you have made. If you are concerned that you might get sick or otherwise have to cancel, we suggest buying trip insurance. There are insurance companies that specialize in providing insurance policies for outfitter bookings and hunts. One such company we recommend is It is also our policy, depending on the adventure you booked and at our discretion, that if you have to cancel and we are able to book a replacement for you at the regular price we will work with you to apply your deposits to another adventure. Please note that we cannot refund or roll state or government license fees, application fees, draw results, or tags.


      This tented camp facility includes separate canvas sleep and cook tents. Each tent has a wood stove for heat! Hunter will be sleeping on cots with foam mattress pads. It is recommended that warm sleeping gear is packed as temperatures can be quite cool at this elevation. Hot showers will also be made available upon hunters request in a heated shower tent. Both archery and rifle hunters need to be prepared for all weather conditions. It is common for rifle hunters to encounter snow on their hunt. Archery hunts may be very warm. There are both grizzly and black bears in the area.

      This tented camp facility includes separate canvas sleep and cook tents. Each tent has a wood stove for heat! You will be sleeping on cots with foam mattress pads. We recommend that you bring warm sleeping gear as it can be cold at this elevation. Hot showers will also be made available upon your request in our heated shower tent.

      You will be served breakfast, juice and plenty of cowboy coffee prior to each mornings hunt. A quality sack lunch will be provided each day to prevent wasting time returning to camp for a midday meal. When you return the fires will be burning and a nice hot meal will be served. Our food is first class – you won’t be disappointed!

      Hunter should be prepared for some moderate hiking during this hunt. Horses and mules will be used when appropriate, but this is a spot and stalk hunt and hunter will need to hike up to high elevations to glass and make a stalk on an elk. Stronger physically fit individuals will have better shot opportunity. The terrain varies from easy to difficult. You can expect great scenery, and the challenge of hunting elk and other game. Outfitter recommends, if at all possible, that you arrive a day or two early. This will help you acclimate to the altitude and you can enjoy some sightseeing or hiking. We want you to keep in mind that your physical condition is very important. We want you to have a safe, enjoyable hunt!

      Transportation (To/From Basecamp)

      Final destination city is Bozeman, Montana. Outfitter will provide transportation from Bozeman for an additional fee. Option to rent a car from Bozeman and drive to West Yellowstone.

      The terrain varies from easy to difficult. Hunter can expect great scenery, and the challenge of hunting elk and other game. It is recommended, if possible, to arrive a day or two early. This will help hunters to acclimate to the altitude and also allow for some sightseeing or hiking. This is a mountain hunt with day pack hunting, from remote spike camp. A good layering system is recommended as hunter will be in higher altitudes. The weather can be freezing in the morning and 70+ in the afternoon. Outfitter will provide a cot and mattress, wall tent, horses, and all meals. Hunter should be prepared with a good layering system as weather can fluctuate. Durable hiking boots are a must. Full gear list to be provided when booked. To hunt during the archery season, hunters must purchase a $10 bow and arrow license after obtaining a hunting license. A certificate showing the completion of a Bowhunter Education course or a prior year's archery license from any state is required to purchase the bow and arrow license.
